2 1/2-ton Truck, Troop Carrier Medium (Horizon 2) Acquisition Project of the Armed Forces of the Philippines

The Armed Forces of the Philippines has raised the requirement to acquire 310 units of 2 1/2-ton Troop Carrier 6x6 Trucks as part of the Horizon 2 Phase Priority Projects under the Revised AFP Modernization Program.

The project, which is called the 2 1/2-ton Truck, Troop Carrier Medium Acquisition Project, will boost the AFP's tactical transport requirements as it improves overall mobility of all services while replacing ageing trucks that were mostly acquired from the US armed forces.

29 July 2019:

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) released the Special Allotment Release Order (SARO) for the AFP 2 1/2-ton Truck Troop Carrier Medium Acquisition Project together with 2 other projects for a total worth of Php3,875,727,389.00.

The project would support the Notice of Award (NOA) released by the Department of National Defense (DND) in favor of Korea Trade - Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) for 310 units of KIA Motors KM250 2 1/2-ton 6x6 troop carrier trucks.

The trucks are expected to start arriving within the year, with the AFP probably distributing these trucks to the three major service branches while also distributing some of the trucks to AFP service units.

26 January 2020:

A shipment of Kia KM250 2 1/2-ton cargo trucks have arrived in the Philippines lately, bound for the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

According to information we received, 110 units of Kia KM250 trucks are for delivery to the General Headquarters, AFP, which were acquired under the AFP's 2 1/2-ton Truck, Troop Carrier Medium acquisition project.

MaxDefense believes that this is the 1st batch, with 200 more units expected to arrive as part of the contract, which are expected to be completed before mid 2020.
